Kottke.org
Jason Kottke's personal blog of interesting links and short thoughts — running since 1998.
About
Kottke.org is Jason Kottke’s personal blog, and it has been running continuously since March 1998 — making it one of the oldest blogs on the internet still being actively published by its original author.
The format is simple and has barely changed in a quarter century: short posts linking out to interesting things — articles, videos, art, science, design, oddities, photos of icebergs, whatever caught his eye that morning. No clickbait, no SEO performance, no engagement bait. Just a thoughtful person showing you things he found.
The blog is reader-supported through paid memberships, which is how Jason keeps it ad-free and pays himself to do it full time. It’s a model that shouldn’t really work in 2026, and the fact that it does — for nearly thirty years now — is part of what makes Kottke.org one of the genuine treasures of the open web.
